KINDERGARTEN AND NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION!   Welcome to the Penn-Trafford School District!!

We are currently registering Kindergarten and New students for the 2018-2019 school year!

Registration (via phone @ your home school):  Please call your home school to register your child.  The secretary at each building will take your information right over the phone!

Kindergarten Open House, Tuesday, August 21st.  AM students are 5:30-6:15 and PM students are 6:30-7:15.  (Open House Evening)

Safe School Helpline:  Penn-Trafford School District is implementing a Safe School Helpline to help prevent threats and dangers to the school community. Safe School helpline is designed to assist you in reporting any wrongdoing that impacts our schools, our students or our staff – anonymously, so as to protect your privacy. After School DayCare Program through PTARC and Jump Start Sports:  This after school program is available to students and will be held daily at Sunrise Elementary School.     

 

 

PRE-K COUNTS & HEAD START REGISTRATION:  We have a Pre-K Counts program that will be held daily at Sunrise Elementary School.  It is free to many students.  Please see the attached flyer for more information about registering.   Pre-K Counts at Sunrise 2018.pdf

FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATION:  Please consider filling out and turning in the free and reduced lunch application to receive assistance for breakfast and lunch in the school.  Eligibility is based on income and all information is completely confidential.  The status of the application is not shared and also embedded into student's lunch ID card, therefore, not shared with other students at any time.  Click on the application and submit to the office ASAP.  Free and Reduced Lunch Application  

 

 

Backpacks to Go Program:   As you do your back to school shopping, please think of Penn-Trafford's Backpacks-to-Go Program. The Penn Trafford Backpacks-to-Go Program is a supplemental nutrition program provides a backpack filled with meals and snacks every other weekend to district children enrolled in the program, made possible through donations from community members, businesses, organizations, and churches in the surrounding area, and PT staff. If you would like to make a monetary, gift card, food or backpack donation, please contact Lauren Traill at trailll@penntrafford.org or 724-744-2161 or Lisa Popovich at popovichl@penntrafford.org or 724-744-0302. If you feel that your child could benefit from receiving a backpack during the 2018-19 school year, please contact Mrs. Traill or Mrs. Popovich.

 

 

Message From the Principal

HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE!  We all want your children to be successful.  Please stay up to date and aware of everything that is going on by visiting this website, contacting your child(ren)'s teachers and even volunteering when you are able!  Should you have any additional questions about school, please call the school office.  
All parents are suggested to visit and explore all the school website information, teacher pages, and Powerschool to check grades regularly.  Connect with your child(ren)'s teacher with any questions or concerns. Please let us know what we can do to make the days better for you and your child(ren). 
 
Please visit the site often for any changes or news.  OR Check out our twitter feed @SunriseElemK5.  Also, please don't hesitate to contact us, as needed, should you need anything.

Sunrise Estates Elementary School is a neighborhood school that houses grades K-5.  We are one of five elementary schools for the district.  Currently, our enrollment is around 320 students.  We have approximately 35 staff members that work in the building.  We offer half day Kindergarten, both AM and PM. Building services include speech and language, learning support, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and gifted needs.

Peer Mediation Availability: 

The goal of peer mediation (if needed for a given child) is for the peer mediators to help our students resolve their conflicts peacefully and more independently, and in turn hopefully teach our students conflict resolution skills.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS!!

We are excited to be kicking off our 4th round of the BATTLE OF THE BOOKS Elementary Reading Challenge for Grades 3, 4, 5! 

 
We need a tremendous amount of volunteers from all PT buildings including teachers, library aides, students, nurses, parents and community members! Please let Mrs. Chesky know if you can help...prepare, assist at event, involve your students, donate, judge, and more!
